You made it to week two! Woah, you’re half-way there!
We’re believing for fresh encouragement for you as we continue to press into prayer and remain committed to fasting together… let’s keep going!
TODAY’S PSALM: Psalm 63
A PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Jesus taught us to pray this prayer, so let’s pray it again!
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever.
Amenfrom Matthew 6:9-13 (ESV).
FUN FACT: The ‘yours is the kingdom…’ section probably wasn’t in Jesus’ original prayer, but it became part of the early church’s liturgy as they prayed this prayer together. So when scribes came to make copies of the gospels, it was probably just second nature to include this ‘doxology’. Whether you say that line or not, know that you’re joining with every generation of Christians who have ever lived in praying the words of Jesus!
TODAY’S BIBLE PASSAGE: Galatians 6:9-10
Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.Max Lucado, author and speaker
TODAY’S POINTS FOR PRAYER:
- Galatians 6 calls us to “not grow weary from doing good” – we need God’s help in this!
- Pray that we would persevere with our prayer and fasting this week, knowing that we are not alone
- Ask God that we would receive revelation that stirs up hunger and passion for him, so that we remain firm in our devotion
