Today is the last session in our series on David: from Shepherd to King!
Our aim today is to learn that we can pass on the things we’ve learnt from God to others, like David did!
MARK THE MOMENT
Say something encouraging to someone in your family. Make sure everyone hears an encouragement!
WORSHIP (8 MINS)
Let’s celebrate God’s love for us!
INTRO (14 MINS)
Watch: God’s Temple gets built (3.5 mins)
Jesus Calling Bible p106
Lion First Bible p214-231
Key verses in the bible: 1 Chronicles 17:1-4, 11-12, 1 Chronicles 22:6-12, 14-17, 2 Chronicles 1:7-12
Quick Unpack: (2-5 mins) Keep it simple for younger ones.
David was a Game Changing King!
He had learnt so much from his days as a young shepherd, though to finally becoming King.
But he didn’t want to keep all this wisdom, strength, ideas and more to himself, he wanted to pass on all he’d learnt from God to his son, Solomon!
He prayed for him, he listened to God for him, he encouraged him and he supported him; even giving him a head start in building the Temple by getting loads of amazing building materials ready!
How can we pass on what we have from Father God, Jesus and Holy Spirit to others?
Fun Activities (5-15 mins)
Chinese whispers: Pass a simple message around your family, such as ‘David was a totally awesome king’ or ‘This family is loved by Daddy God’…
Whisper it to one person, who then passes it on to the next, until everyone has had a chance to hear it and pass it on. Did the message get through? Have fun taking it in turns to start the message.
Build the Temple: use different materials to build the Temple of God together or challenge each other – whose is the strongest, most beautiful, the tallest…?
You could use lego, wooden bricks or play dough, cardboard boxes and tubes or get messy with marshmallows and spaghetti! Send us photos of your masterpieces!
Or use the simple card craft for younger ones on the template.
Acrostic Encouragement: use the letters in the words PASS IT ON to create an acrostic ‘poem’: Each letter is the start of a sentence or phrase.
You could write encouragements for your family or someone else or collect ideas of ways to pass on faith and truth to others, or any key things you have learnt about David.
BIBLE BITE: FINAL CHANCE TO LEARN IT!
1 Samuel 16:7 ‘God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.’
Resources: Pdf template, scissors, pens, glue/tape, paper and card, bricks, cardboard, materials.
Prayer Ideas: (5-10 mins)
Did you know? God sees us as leaders and we all have things we can pass on such as amazing ideas, wisdom, truth, breakthroughs, hope, love and so much more. Pray for each other for wisdom and bravery to pass these things onto others.
SHOUT OUT prayers: speak out simple ‘shout out’ prayers like ‘I can tell others about God’s love’, ‘I can help others know who is Jesus is’, ‘I can pray for my friend to learn what I’ve learnt’, ‘I can pass on God’s peace, joy, hope…’
WHAT’S THE GAME CHANGING MOMENT
I can pass on what I’ve learnt and experienced from God to others!
Share your art with us. Show us your temples. Which is your favourite part of David’s story? What could you pass on to others?
NEXT WEEK ON EASTER SUNDAY, WE WILL BE CELEBRATING JESUS’ LIFE ALL TOGETHER ON OUR LIVE STREAM!
