Today is the next session session in our new theme – HAPPY HEARTS!
We will be discovering that Jesus wants us to have a Free Heart.
NEXT WEEK is our Game Changers Zoom Call to find out more!
MARK THE MOMENT
Ask each other if your heart is open to Jesus!
WORSHIP (8 MINS)
Let’s celebrate God’s amazing love for us!
INTRO (14 MINS)
Watch: God’s Story Joseph (4 mins)
Jesus Calling Bible: p54-55, 60-61
Jesus Storybook Bible p76
Lion First Bible p74-91
Quick Unpack: (2-5 mins) Keep it simple for younger ones.
Joseph could have hated his brothers and never wanted to see them again because of how they’d treated him. But he didn’t! He actually forgave them!
Joseph had a free heart. He knew God loved him and had a wonderful plan for him help lots of people, including his big brothers!
He wasn’t trapped in worries, anger or fear.
He had God’s truth, forgiveness and love. And we can too!
Fun Activities (5-15 mins)
…and the ‘Happy Hearts Health Chart’ here! (if you printed this out two weeks ago… grab it again now!)
Hunt the Keys: Take it in turns to hide some keys (or use the card ones from the template) for each other to find.
Bear and the honeypot: One person is the bear, blindfolded, with a bunch of keys in front of them. Take it turns to creep up and pinch the keys without being heard! The ‘Bear’ can point to where they think the person is to catch them out!
HAPPY HEARTS HEALTH CHART!
Print it out HERE. Can you decorate today’s heart, and jot on one thing Jesus was showing you before sticking it on?
Keys of Truth: One way to have a free heart is to believe God’s truth about ourselves. Think up some truths together such as God loves me, He has a plan for me, I am forgiven, I am loved…
Choose a key from the template or create your own. Decorate it with this truth, cut it out and stick or hang up so you can see it. You could make multiple keys for a key-ring of truth!
NEW BIBLE BITE: Revelation 3:20 Jesus said ‘Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you will eat with me.’
Decorate the verse, cut it out and put back together. Challenge each other to say it in silly voices.
Truth activity sheets of John 8:32 and John 14:6
Prayer Ideas: (5-10 mins)
- Free Heart: Is there anything putting your heart in prison? Fears, worries, pain, anger….? Chat together and tell Jesus about it. What truth does he have for you to set you free? Speak this truth over your hearts and receive God’s love, forgiveness and peace. Your heart is now free!
- God’s Truth: Take it in turns to say John 8:32 over each other: Jesus said ‘Then you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free’. Be open to pray what Holy Spirit is showing you for each other.
WHAT’S THE GAME CHANGING MOMENT?
I can know God’s truth, forgiveness and love and this will help me have to have a FREE HEART!
Share your art with us. Show us your keys of truth. How did Joseph’s heart stay free? What does it feel like to have a free heart?
