Quick Unpack: (2-5 mins) Keep it simple for younger ones.
Jesus said that what is in our hearts will come out of our mouth! (Luke 6:45)
We can all pick up bad attitudes, hurts or difficulties during our week that mean our hearts need a good clean.
But the great news is that Daddy God wants us to have a clean, pure heart and HE will wash away all the mad, bad and sad stuff, because Jesus has paid for it and dealt with it by dying for us on the cross and by coming back to life!
So let’s allow him to clean our hearts today so we can have Happy Hearts!
Fun Activities (5-15 mins)
…and the ‘Happy Hearts Health Chart’ here! (as used previously)
Cleaning Time: Involve your child with cleaning the car or some of their toys or do the washing up together and chat about how it is important to clean the things we have and why. Do they know it is even more important to make sure our hearts are clean too? You could share what having a clean pure heart means for you with them. Your child will love to hear about your friendship with Jesus.
Speedy Words: Choose something special to pass around your family. When each person has the object they can say any word to do with cleaning but they cannot repeat what someone else has said! How many times and how quickly can you pass the object round?
Clean, scrub, wash, pure, soap, bubbles, bath, shower, hose, water, dustpan, brush, wipe, polish…
HAPPY HEARTS HEALTH CHART! Print this out here if you haven’t already done so to add to each session
Colour in and cut out today’s Pure Heart to add to your chart!
Bible Verse Art:
Psalm 51:10 ’Create in me a pure heart, God, and make my spirit right again’.
1 John 1:9 ’But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done.’
Choose one of these bible verses or anything about ‘A Pure Heart’ as inspiration for some collaborative art! Get out chalks, paints, pastels or felt-tips and get creative together. Or go for 3D fun with lego or junk modelling. Send us photos of your creations!
BIBLE BITE: Challenge each other to say it in silly voices: robot, squeaky, slow, fast…
Revelation 3:20 Jesus said ‘Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you will eat with me.’
Prayer Ideas: (5-10 mins)
Adventure Time: Let’s get comfy and invite Holy Spirit to come and clean our hearts! You could put on some quiet music, declare Psalm 51:10 over yourselves and then imagine opening the door of your heart to Jesus, he’s getting out his scrubbing brush or dustpan or polish… and he’s cleaning your heart, what is he saying and doing and showing you? Is there anything you want to give him? What does he give you?
Give time to be with Jesus! Make this work for your child at a good time that suits you!
WHAT’S THE GAME CHANGING MOMENT?
I know that Jesus can clean my heart and make it pure.
Share your art with us. Can you say the Bible Bite yet? How does it feel to have a clean, pure heart?
