This session is for children aged 1-4, but do keep it really short and simple for under 2’s.
Make sure you read the full session before you start, and check out these practical tips to get the most out of your time together.
We pray you’ll have a wonderful, fun time with your little ones!
Today it is FATHER’S DAY! Let’s have some fun with our Daddies, and with Daddy God!
Make it special: Give your Dad a big hug and tell him something you like to do with him!
WORSHIP: (5 MINS) Let’s celebrate that Daddy God is with us!
You could use these songs or any of your own favourites:
INTRO (7 MINS)
FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE FANTASTIC FATHER!:
Watch: The Prodigal Son (4 mins)
Candle Bible for Toddlers p281
Lion First Bible p386
Jesus Calling bible p172
QUICK UNPACK (2 MINS)
Daddy God is like the Father in the story. He doesn’t want anyone to be lost.
He wants everyone to be found and to be in his family.
Chat with your child about being part of Daddy God’s family.
WE ARE IN GOD’S FAMILY!
Keep using the shout out with different voices, fast, slow, high, low, robot, squeaky… or make up some actions.
FUN ACTIVITIES (5-15 MINS)
- Lost and Found: Hide a favourite toy for your child to find. Let them hide it for you to find. Chat about precious things. We would be sad if we lost this toy. The Father in the story was sad his son was lost, but he was overjoyed when he was found again!
- The Lost Son board game: (better for older toddlers) Use the template. You’ll need a dice and a counter for each player. Take it in turns to roll dice and move around the board. Chat and wonder about the story.
Medal: Choose a shape from the template to decorate and add on a message or write on your own. Stick on the ribbons to create a medal!
