Today is the LAST session session in our HAPPY HEARTS theme! We are going to learn that we can have a joyful happy heart that praises God, no matter what comes our way!
WE WILL FIND OUT MORE ON OUR ZOOM CALL NEXT WEEK TOO!
This week, Pecky is taking to the skies and jetting off for a break…
MARK THE MOMENT
Pass a cushion or favourite soft toy round as fast as you can, saying ‘We can have Happy Hearts!’
WORSHIP (7 MINS)
Let’s worship and praise our wonderful Father in heaven!
INTRO (14 MINS)
FIND OUT MORE:
Watch: Paul and Silas (3.5 mins)
My First Message p355
Jesus Calling Bible p240
Key verses in the bible: Acts 16:16-34
Quick Unpack: (2-5 mins) Keep it simple for younger ones.
Paul and Silas ended up in prison for telling others about Jesus.
BUT their hearts were so happy and full of joy that they chose to praise God even in the prison!
And incredible things happened: there was an earthquake, they were set free and the jailer and his whole family became friends with Jesus!
We can praise God, no matter what, and incredible things can happen!
Fun Activities (5-15 mins)
‘Jesus is…’ Memory Game: Pass round a special object. When holding the object think of a word to describe Jesus. Such as ‘Jesus is kind’. The next person then has to remember the first word AND add their own: ‘Jesus is kind and powerful’ The third person has to remember BOTH the previous words and add their own ‘Jesus is kind, powerful and fun’
Continue and see how many times around your family you can go remembering each other’s words!
Play it out: play the story with a younger child: re-create the prison with bricks, junk modelling and small people. Sing along with Paul and Silas and explore what happened together: I wonder why they praised God… I wonder why there was an earthquake… I wonder how the jailer felt… I wonder which is your favourite part…
I Can Praise God Paper chain: Use the template. Decorate and cut out the strips. Add on some of your own praises to God! Stick together to create a paper chain (print several copies for a longer chain!) Then stick up or pull apart as you chat about Paul and Silas being set free!
Paul and Silas in Prison: 3D craft. Follow the instructions on the template.
Resources: Pdf template, scissors, pens, glue/tape, paper and card, bricks, cardboard, play people.
Prayer Ideas: (5-10 mins)
Worship God: Put on your favourite worship songs and jump and dance around together. Encourage your child to know that we can praise God however we are feeling and whatever is going on in our lives. He is SO awesome and wonderful and worth our praises!!
Remind each other this week to keep on praising our glorious, brilliant, fantastic God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
